Culture and Heritage
The inscriptions of the Hindu temples and the Jain And Buddha Shrines which go back to the Gupta and post-Gupta times and the quality of the art and architecture of contemporaneous edifices prove that the people of the district in those times were educated and cultured.
After the 12th century,some Muslims who had settled down in these parts set up their own maktabs(school),many were attached to mosques and the teachers.
The architecture of the buildings at places sacred to religion from anti-quity in the district e.g. Asni,,Asothar,Bahau,Bindki,Renand Gunir is primarily Indian in concept whereas constructions tracing their origin to Muslim period e.g. those at Amauli,Deomai,Fatehpur,Haswa,Malwa largely follow the Indo-Muslim style of architecture .
The seasonal folk-song is Hori or Phag in spring, Malhar and Kajri in the rainy season.
Mushairas and Kavi –sammelans,being gatherings at which Urdu and Hindi poets respectivily recite their poems , are very popular in urban areas.
